United Methodist Committee on Relief

Think outside the box when you give to UMCOR. Consider blessing others not only with money but with time, supplies, and prayers.

When you do make a financial donation, you can be assured that every dollar will go to the program you specify. UMCOR can guarantee this because all of our administrative costs are covered by the UMCOR Sunday offering and other undesignated gifts. Volunteering or sending relief supplies to one of our supply depots are two more ways you can be a sign of hope for others. Your prayer support is vital to all that UMCOR does.

Match Giving and Workplace Giving – Check with your employer (or former employer if you are retired) to see if you can multiply your support for UMCOR through a gift match or combined charitable campaign programs. Provide your company with UMCOR’s tax ID, 13-5562279.

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) – If you are a federal employee, you can give to UMCOR through payroll deduction via the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). To support UMCOR through the CFC, indicate #11116 under Global Impact on your CFC pledge form.

Estate Gifts – Remember UMCOR in your will or estate planning.

IRA Giving – Congress renewed and made permanent a popular charitable IRA provision in the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015. This provision allows people aged 70½ or older to make direct charitable gifts from traditional and Roth IRAs to charities in a total amount up to $100,000. These gifts are free from federal income taxation. In addition, the income tax laws of most states also allow tax-free treatment for these gifts.

Making gifts from IRA funds that would otherwise lead to increased taxes can be a wise choice for many. This is especially true for those who must take required minimum distributions each year.

For more information, check with us, your IRA administrator, or your tax advisor.

Other Gifts – If you have other assets, such as property, life insurance policies, mineral rights, or even airline miles, please contact Tom Farley, Director of Development Mission Engagement, for details: 404-832-7782, for information about how to make a gift.

Please contact Tom Farley if you have any questions or require additional information to make a planned gift, at or 404-832-7782.
