  • NEWS: VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS MAKE A SPLASH THIS SUMMER

Vacation Bible schools across the United States raised support to provide clean water through United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) programs this summer. They wanted to teach their campers about the paucity of fresh drinking water and the sanitary and health issues that arise from this lack.

VBS directors from east to west came up with creative ways to get kids engaged, educated, and motivated to raise funds to help. Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Poquoson, Virginia, raised funds for the Old Mutare wells project in Zimbabwe, and the VBS kids even made cards, which, they hope, will make it to the children far away in Africa.

In Concord, Michigan, the kids raised $230, one quarter at a time, for UMCOR’s Water and Sanitation project. Read about more VBS efforts to provide clean water.

Your gift to Water and Sanitation, UMCOR Advance #3020600 is a gift of fresh water for communities in need.

    PRAYER: PAN-AFRICA HEALTH CONSULTATION

We give praise for a successful Pan-Africa Health Consultation in Ghana, August 13-17. Representatives from the African Central Conference gathered, shared, planned, and learned alongside one another. UMCOR staff and health promoters alike left re-energized to serve the health needs of their communities.

    RESOURCE: SCHOOL SUPPLIES

While you’re out shopping for school supplies for your children, why not pick up some extra items to assemble UMCOR school kits? School kits provide basic school supplies for children all over the world. They’re easy to assemble. Watch this video to learn how.
