United Methodist Committee on Relief

US Disaster Response Training

UMCOR trains people at every level—local church, district and conference—to respond to disasters. For example, UMCOR can help your conference draft, revise, and test your Conference Disaster Response Plan. UMCOR also trains Early Response Teams, which are then deployed by United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) in times of need. These training programs and many more enable United Methodists in the US to bring hope to those who are suffering. Visit UMCOR’s volunteer page if you’re wondering how you can make a difference.

UMCOR provides training for Early Response Teams; however, United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) coordinates these volunteers. If you’re interested in participating in a short-term volunteer team, please contact your jurisdictional or conference UMVIM coordinator

To see a list of the training programs that UMCOR offers, view our training calendar. To get a description of the trainings we offer, contact Amelia Mendizabal, 212-870-3892 or Greg Forrester, 212-870-3563.
