The grant-making process is designed to support program/project development and to create accountability and documentation of funding approvals and disbursements.
UMCOR provides grants only if the request for such funds comes from either (i) an appropriate body related to The United Methodist Church, preferably an annual conference, or (ii) an appropriate body of other faith-based organizations.
STEP 1: CONTACT UMCOR
Contact the Disaster Response program manager to signal interest in applying for a grant.
UMCOR may also contact potential partners through a request for application.
STEP 2: DRAFT and SUBMIT THE PROJECT PROPOSAL / GRANT APPLICATION
Submit the completed narrative and proposed budget, and any other supporting documentation, on behalf of the organization or conference. All supporting documents also need submitted as attachments to .

STEP 3: REVIEW PROCESS
UMCOR recognizes the need to move forward as quickly as possible with your relief and response ministries. UMCOR conducts an internal review and approval process within three3 weeks of receiving request. UMCOR will review proposals for compliance with international or national standards for humanitarian assistance.
STEP 4: NOTIFICATION
UMCOR sends notification of the decision to the applicant. If approved, the message is accompanied by an award letter and grant agreement, which must be signed and returned before a disbursement can be made via Bank Wire Form / Electronic Payment.
STEP 5: REPORTING
Project reports are mandatory for all funded projects. This includes financial and narrative reports that capturees project achievements. Grants will be disbursed in installments tied to a reporting cycle. Final payment of the grant amount is often dependent on receiving and approval of reports. UMCOR may arrange an on-site visit to evaluate the project when appropriate.
